First Game of the Season

FML, what a terrible game. Big Pelf looked like a fool, David Wright continues to strike out like its his job, they hit a grand slam, and we got no-hit till the 7th inning.

On the positive side: we came back a little bit, its only the first game, Beltran looked good, and nobody got hurt (yet)

Heres the depth chart and I'm going to go cry a little. Jason Bay and Johan, where yaat?!? Los Mets are already down 2-0 in the first and John Niese is on the hill today. Baseball season is back. Lets just say, even though we lost the first one, I am PUMPED to see what the  Mets are capable of in 2011. Maybe next weekend I'll pick a day and a bar to organize the first semi-official New York Mets watch party. I'll keep you posted.

Lets goooooo Mets!

Tulane and the Mets COLLIDE

With Justin Turner going down to the minors it looks like TULANE GRAD Brad Emaus is going to be playing second base for the Mets this year. I am so pumped. People are saying .275 and 15 homers which works for me! I think its gonna be all about OBP and defense though at the beginning. I am so glad that NOLA and the Mets get to collide this season. Beltran played in a scrimmage, say what?!! Apparently him and Coach Collins made a plan that gets him on the field for opening day.  That sounds pretty cool to me but better safe than sorry so I say we take it slow with Beltran. I want him more in september than I do in March, personally.

It also looks like Chris Young and Chris Capuano are gonna be solid ways to round out our rotation. This is going to be a great season, I can feel it. Lets go Mets!

Bye Bye Luis

"A poem for Luis"
Luis Castillo is gone
He gets paid like 6 million bones to sit at home and do nothing
Doesn't seem that bad to me
Peace out Luis,
you've done all that was asked,
but you knew this day was coming.

Terry Collins

After all of the coaches we have seen in recent years it feels like a new beginning with Terry Collins. I get the feeling that his optimism, energy and intensity is the jolt we need to ignite our lineup, rotation and ballpark. Collins was the maneger of the Astros and the Angels and led both teams to winning records and second place finishes. His departure from both teams seems like injuries and adversity got the better of him. Since '99 when he left the Angles he has been managing Orix Buffaloes of the Pacific League in Japan. Last season he worked in the Mets minor league system.

"Today was the most fun I had in 12 years."
-Terry Collins, February 21, 2011 (Managed the Angels in 1999)

More fun to come Terry. Get these Mets into shape, ya hearrrd me?
In NOLA news, weather forecastridiculously nice. Time to go outside and play.

A New Season, A New Blog

Hello friends, family, and fellow Mets fans,

This should be an interesting year for our beloved Mets. These last few seasons have been rough. After all the heartbreak, I am excited for the Mets because sitting here in February, I honestly believe this could be our year. We have some questiomarks in the rotation and the bullpen but I have faith in Coach Collins, our lineup is solid, I like the new GM Alderson, and Santana will be back before too long (hopefully). Enjoy reading this blog! Email me at travlinmetsfan@yahoo.com if you want to talk about the blog, Mets or NOLA. Spring training is here and a new season in upon us, anything can happen.

Lets go Mets!
